in la peñita under the sea horses i say that’s isla
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&islote
small island island&&&&&&&&&&&&and why do
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&you look so happy
is it because it doesn’t matter anymore
what’s it but we’ll never know&&&&&&&&&&&&just
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&that it’s empty
next to a doorway missing a wall palm shadows
in the sand like fish skeletons or
in rincón de guayabitos&&&&&&&&&&&&and why
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&do you look so happy
i say because i did not want to know that man
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&anyway
i am merely the day tripping object of your
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&contempt and
&&&&&&&&&&&&i need you to tell me how
that hotel they call it a decamaron
with rolling lawn like the algae lake in lo de
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&marcos
&&&&&&&&&&&&and how before i did not notice
&&&&&&&&&&&&in san pancho it’s too risky
but in chacala next to the cannon
i say i am documenting this trip
you say you always do&&&&&&&&&&&&but i have
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&to sneak
these photographs of you&&&&&&&&&&&&you
&&&&&&&&&&&&have never liked one of them

* “Isla Islote:” Could be translated as “Small Island Island” – an island near La Peñita, Nayarit (link).
* Poem from my [four paths] manuscript. Here is another [four paths] poem (link), at the BluePrintReview. :)
* For the > Language > Place blog carnival, #16 (translation issue), hosted by Steve Wing, here.

Such fabulous colors!
I love the colors of Mexico. Puerto Rico has interesting colors too.
Me too! (Well, never been to Puerto Rico….) :)
such a vibrant and distinct energy, both in the image, and in the poem. and the flow of the lines – the spaces, they are like an own palm/poetry shadow. now i am curious for more [four paths].
“i need you to tell me how”. i came back to LIKE this again but apparently you can’t double-down on likes here. so i thought i’d quote a few lines from the poem i love- all of it, really.
Thank you all! Dorothee! There are more [four paths] coming. [carricitos] was most pleased to be in BPR. :)
Redmitten …But if only they could tell us how, right! These things we need, huh.
